A Day of Amazement!

Today we had class at the Coliseum and Roman Forum.  It was amazing!  Here are a few pictures from todays class.  All of it was breathtaking and I could not stop looking at everything.  I cannot belive after so many years all of what is left standing is still standing.  It's amazing!
Here are a few pictures from the day:
This is the original floor of the Roman Seate building.

View of the Roman Forum from the top of Palatine Hill

The Coliseum

This was amazing.

This cross was constructed by the Popes in the place where
Emperors used to sit to watch the events.

The holes at the top of the wall were part of the roofing system
they had to cover the spectators on hot days.

Beautiful piece of history

This is original brick work on the Caesar's Palace, sitll intact after
all these years.  The "cement" is a mixture of a volcanic deposit called
pozzolana and mortar.
Today was an amazing time.  I learned so much and I will never forget these lessons because I got to see it all with my own two eyes.  I am still atsonished by how amazing these sites were!  Today was a great day.  We walked for hours...HOURS today, but it was well worth it.  I am so glad I got to see the Coliseum and the Roman Forum.

fino alla prossima volta!!
(until next time!)
